G-Dragon

G-Dragon? If you’re not familiar with the group Big Bang then you’ll have no clue what I’m talking about.
G-Dragon, born Kwon Ji-yong of Seoul, Korea; is the leader and ‘face’ of the Korean group Big Bang. G-Dragon is his stage name. He began his career at just age five as a member of the group Little Roo’Ra, but after releasing their Christmas album the group was terminated. That was when he promised to his mom that he would never be a singer again, but during a family outing he was scouted by SM-entertainment. Before debuting he was a SM-entertainment trainee for five years (from age 8-13yrs), then he was a trainee under YG-entertainment for another six years. Before his debut with Big Bang he had been a childhood friend of fellow member, T.O.P (Choi Seunghyun). He also became friends with Taeyang (Dong Yong Bae) before the group debut. The group officially debut in 2006, all three friends made it through judging.
He began his solo career in 2008 with his album, Heartbreaker, which includes collaborations with other artists such as Taeyang and Sandara Park. Then in November 2010, YG announced that G-dragon would do a collaboration with fellow band member and friend, T.O.P. The album was called GD & TOP. Then he took a break. In 2012 he surprised fans with his One of a Kind world tour and then Coup D’Etat.
In my opinion he is a great artist and I’m glad I get to listen to him. His music, along with his group members’, have a very hyped music style that is easy to dance to, or if your me very easy to lose yourself in. He is one of my most favorite male artists because he tries his best just like I want to. Hope you enjoyed learning about Kwon Ji-yong’s music career.
