Summer

Izabella Rodriguez, Staff Writer

Summer is one of the four seasons on our Earth. Summer starts on June 21st, after spring which begins March 20th, and after summer follows autumn and winter. Summer is the hottest time of the year. That is when the sun comes out and everyone is at the pool.
There are many interesting facts about summer. Summer is the most popular season to take a road trip. Did you know that over 650 million long-distance trips are made during the summer in the U.S. Another fun fact, is that the iron in France’s Eiffel Tower expands in the summer heat making the tower grow more than 6 inches.
The reason why it’s so hot in summer is because the world’s axis is tilted. Many people believe that the temperature changes because the Earth is closer to the sun in summer and farther from the sun in winter. In fact, the Earth is farthest from the sun in July and is closest to the sun in January!
In my opinion, summer is my favorite season. Just because of the weather, you can do so many more activities in the heat. I love all of the seasons, in all different ways. I am just super excided for summer to begin.
