Animal Abuse

Branson Willis, Staff Writer

Animal abuse happens all over the world. Some people are fine with it and others aren’t. Those who do are the ones beating the animals. In this article you’ll see how wrong animal abuse is.

If you are beating your animals I highly suggest you stop, unless you like the idea of up to 5 years in prison.
Honestly, I don’t know why people beat animals. I personally think It’s okay to give them one little smack if they are annoying/harassing another person, fighting with another dog, or they just chewed up your brand-new Birkenstocks. You should never hit your animal very hard or do it more than once, MAYBE twice. If you cause serious injuries to an animal you can face prison-time.

In the State of Oregon, you can spend up to 6 months in prison and $2000 fine if you commit Animal Abuse in the second degree. Animal abuse in the second degree is a Class C Misdemeanor. If you commit Animal Abuse in the first degree you can face a $5000 fine and 1 year in prison for the first case. In the second case you can take 5 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.

Any animal can be left alone to die, but it mostly happens to dogs. These animals get left alone to die because the owner can’t take care of it or they don’t want to. There is many communities that save as many animals as they can from abusive owners or off the streets. One of these groups is ASPCA. ASPCA stands for ‘American Society for the prevention of Cruelty to Animals’

Animal Abuse should be stopped and I hope it will. With all the laws that are being passed it’s stopped a few people. But people still abuse animals even with the laws against it. I personally hate Animal Abuse and want it to end. If you go to ACPCA.org you can donate to abused animals. One day I can only wish Animal Cruelty will be stopped.
