Meeting Gabriel Iglesias

Sabrina Bargenoe, Staff Writer

On August 11th I went to the Douglas County fair with my family. About two weeks before, or so, my mother bought VIP passes to meet Gabriel Iglesias personally and take a picture for his web site. She had spent a lot of money on it even though he had barely one minutes for each of us.

So when the fair came around, my family walked around the fair for about an hour to wait for the meet-and-greet with “Fluffy”. My brother and I both won a few prizes then went to the designated place that we had to wait for him until about 6pm. There were a lot of people, none of them of which I knew. Gabriel showed up around fifteen minutes after people started to crowd in. He arrived in a white van, and I got really embarrassed because my mom got in trouble for having her camera out. He took selfies with as many people he could while his photographer was in the back telling him to hurry up and he was going to be late.

After about fifteen minutes, we were all rushed inside to take a picture with Gabriel for his website. In my opinion his photographer was very rude and pushy. We had maybe two minutes to say hi and bye before we had to leave. He was quite funny, especially after my brother stepped on his sandal.

After the meet-and-greet, my parents, brother, and I all went down to the grass to enjoy his show. I sat down with my best friend, Erynn Brown and her parents. Sadly, I could not take pictures or videos. Before the show he had told everyone that he might use them for future shows, but it was still the best day ever.
