New School Schedule

Our new school schedule is different from last year’s. Is it good, or is it bad? Well, in my opinion, it’s both good and bad. We go to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th period then lunch. Our lunch break is about 10 minutes outside and then we go in the cafeteria to eat for about 20 minutes. After lunch, we go to our last 3 classes and we are out of school at about 2:35.

There are a few ups and downs to this. First let’s look at the about 10-minute break. We only have about 10 minutes to breathe in the fresh air outside then it’s back in the building. That’s only enough time to get down to the track walk a few laps if you’re fast. There is no time to play around. You better know what you’re going to do at break before you get there because there’s no time to waste. Although, having a shorter break gives us more time at home, out of school, and also to get to our sports sooner.

So, the real question to ask is do we want to get home earlier or have a longer break? I thought on this for hours before continuing this article, and I came to the conclusion of: why we can’t have both? If you have siblings in the elementary schools, mainly speaking Brockway and McGovern, you would understand. For example, McGovern gets out at 3:30 and Winston Middle School gets out a little after 2:35 so if you have a sibling at McGovern you have about an hour wait. If we could at least have a 20-minute break, we could get out at 2:55 and save a little time in between the two schools
