Simone is a 19 year old gymnast. She went to the 2016 Rio Olympics and won 4 gold medals and 1 bronze medal. She also has been the world champion for the past 3 years.

When Simone was 2 and her sister was just a few months old, they got taken away from their mom. Their mom was a drug user and had been arrested multiple times. Simone’s grandma took them and officially adopted them, so their grandma is now officially their mom.

Simone started gym when she was 6 years old and progressed quickly. When she officially qualified for the elite team, she didn’t think she was as good as the other girls. That year she got first at the World Championships and became the best gymnast in the world.

Simone wanted to go to the 2012 Olympics but was only 12 years old, so she couldn’t qualify. She kept training for her goal and, in July 2016, she went to the Olympic trials for the Rio games.

At the trials, Simone was 2 points ahead of the second place person almost the whole time. Simone qualified for the Olympic team and became part of “The Final Five.” Simone went on to the Olympics and won on almost all the events.
