BlackPink is a South Korean girl group, under YG Entertainment. The group consists of 4 members. The first girl in the picture, starting at the left is Rosé, next is Jennie, then Jisoo, and last is Lisa. All the members are from different countries. Rosé is from Australia, Jennie is from the Netherlands, Lisa is from Thailand, and Jisoo is from South Korea. They are in the same company with the famous boy group, Big Bang, and they’re in the same company as PSY.

BlackPink debuted on August 8th 2016, with their first album “Square One.” They made a debut with the songs “Whistle” and “Boombayah,” along with a debut stage on SBS Inkigayo. BlackPink has had a training period of 4-6 years. The longest member that trained was Jennie, and she trained for 6 years. Some of the members even feature in the music videos of the other artist in the company.

When BlackPink debuted there was a huge controversy involving them and another group. It was said that BlackPink was copying another girl group called Red Velvet. Red Velvet is from a company called SM, and YG and SM are rival companies. They’re both the biggest entertainment companies in South Korea. BlackPink has maintained the top spot with the song “Whistle” on two music shows. BlackPink will soon have a comeback this year, so I hope you give a chance to support them.
