Insurgent

Insurgent

Owen Shapro, Staff Writer

Insurgent is the second book in the Divergent series and takes place directly after the events of Divergent. Dauntless has split into two, those who still believe in Erudite’s plans in killing off Abnegation and the Divergent and those of which who abandoned the Dauntless headquarters and sought out help from the other Factions. Abnegation has fallen to Amity who has Dauntless mind controlled, and Amity and Candor still remain out of the equation except now that Amity is taking the Dauntless refugees.

The book was published on May 1st 2012 and written by Veronica Roth, but the movie adaptation was released on March 20th 2015. It was published Katherine Tegen Books. The first edition book had 525 pages but the collector’s edition has 568.

The book lived up to the expectations of a sequel to Divergent. It started with just the aftermath of the first book, but slowly evolved into SOME action, not much. The book isn’t bad but it’s also isn’t great. If you read the first one I’d recommend that read the whole series because it just wouldn’t be complete if you didn’t.
