Halsey

Halsey is an American singer-songwriter. She was born with the name Ashley Frangipane on September 29th, 1994. Halsey just being a rearrangement of her first name. She was raised in Clark, New Jersey with her parents. Her mother being of Irish, Italian, and Hungarian descent, her father being African-American.

At the age of 17 she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. When she turned 18 she started having financial troubles and her music was the only way to pay her bills. In 2014 she recorded her song “Ghost” and put it on sound cloud. It gained popularity causing record labels to reach out to her. She picked Astralwerks record label after taking time to look through each of the offers.

Halsey’s debut album “Badlands” was released in August of 2015 and has been gaining popularity ever since. Being her brutally honest self, some of them are explicit. For example, I wouldn’t play the song “Strange Love” or “Gasoline” around a toddler. Halsey also did vocals for The Chainsmokers’ in their song “Closer” which reached number one on Billboard.

I definitely recommend her music, being that all of it has meaning and represent the topics she fights strongly for. My favorite song of the album is “I Walk The Line” which is included in the deluxe version of “Badlands.” In my opinion, she is one of the best artists out there, even if her music is slightly explicit.
