Oregon Zoo has so many things there for you, your family, and friends to do. It’s amazing. Located in Washington Park near downtown Portland, the zoo can be accessed by train, bus, bike, foot or car. The admission isn’t expensive at all either. There are obviously animals, exhibits, camps, classes, and programs.
The gates open at 9:30 am and close at 4:00 pm. Hours do change throughout the season though. May 28 to Sept. 5, 2016 – 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 6, 2016 to May 26, 2017 – 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Grounds do remain open an hour after closing hours. The admission for adults (12–64) is $9.95; Seniors/ military: $7.95; Youth (3–11): $4.95; 2 and under: Free.
They are opened every day of the year except Christmas, December 25. Many discounts are offered at the Oregon Zoo as well. Every second Tuesday admission is $4, but these tickets are not available to order at home/online. Twenty or more paid admissions qualify for a group rate when purchased in one transaction. Ride the bus or light rail to the zoo, show your transit ticket or TriMet pass and you will get $1.50 off the price of admission. Veterans and active service members and retirees receive a $2 discount when they show a military or veteran organization ID, discharge papers or other official military identification.
Like I’ve said they have many things for you and your friends to do including the concerts they have in the summer for you family to come and watch. An elephant land which every aspect of elephant life at the Oregon Zoo is guided and inspired by the natural structure of matriarchal elephant society. You can explore the zoo’s 50-year history of groundbreaking elephant research and creative care and learn about the zoo’s plans to continue this legacy as the elephant family grows. The Elephant land is open September 2, 2016 to May 18, 2017 from – 10:45am to 3:00pm every day. Visitors can watch the zoo’s most popular residents interact with the people that care for them. Daily activities start at 10:45 a.m. River otter activities can be seen at 11 a.m. The swamp monkey feeding at the African Rainforest is at 11:30 a.m, and the sea otter feeding is 12:30 p.m.
Overall the Oregon Zoo is a great place for you and your family to go for vacation and have a great time. Or if you need to get out of the house and you love animals, the zoo is a great choice. Come here and have a great time!
