VIXX is a South Korean K-pop boy group formed by Jellyfish Entertainment. The group consists of 6 members: Hyuk, Hongbin, Ken, N, Ravi, and Leo. Before VIXX debuted, they had been in a survival show call MyIdol. There were 10 trainees that were included in the survival show. It was a show to determine which trainee is capable of being in a group. They’d eliminate 4 trainees and make the other 6 into a group, and that group is now VIXX. The group debuted in May 24, 2012 with the song “Super Hero.”
Later in the same year, they released their second single album with the song “Rock Ur Body.” On October 13, 2012, VIXX had been one of the group to go to KCON, along with EXO, B.A.P, and more. KCON is a K-pop convention/music festival; it was first held in United States, but then spread out to Mexico, France, Japan, South Korea, and UAE. On the next year, VIXX released their first mini album called “Hyde,” along with that was the title song which had the same name as the album. A few months later, they released their full-length album with the title song “Voodoo Doll.”
Upon releasing the song, it got them the number one spot on a show called, Music Bank, making it their first win. VIXX made their official Japanese debut with a full-length album, on July 2 of 2014. In 2015 it had been announced that VIXX would be having a sub-unit call VIXX LR, which was Leo and Ravi. They debut with a mini album and released a song called, Beautiful Lair, which was composed by both of them. In January 11, 2016, Hongbin’s drama Moorim School was released. Not only did Hongbin play the lead character in the drama, VIXX also sang the OST for the drama.
VIXX already had the name of being call the “Kings of concepts,” because of their creative music videos. One of their most recent song was the song “Fantasy” which was on their album called Hades. The concept for the music video was darker which fit the theme of their album. On October 31, 2016 they released the final mini album of their trilogy called, Kratos, along with this album was their title song “The Closer.” The song had reached 14 on Billboard World Digital Songs, the album was 2 on Gaon Album Chart, and 5 on Billboard’s world’s album chart. VIXX is one of the underrated groups in K-pop, but I hope they’ll be able to be one of the most popular groups.
