Club Penguin Shutting Down?

Owen Shapro, Staff Writer

January 31st Disney announced that their popular social network MMO hybrid “Club Penguin” will be closing March 29th 2017. Though this may seem like it will be the end of Club Penguin for good, the creators have also announced they are working on a mobile app: “Club Penguin Island”.
Club Penguin started all the way back in 2005, and the company eventually sold itself to Disney letting the website run up until current day 2017. The game lets you create your very own penguin and design your own igloo while collecting items along the way. The game also has a variety of mini games to buy said items by winning coins.
Though collecting items is a main factor of the game you must have a paid membership which does cost $7.75 for a one month, 19.95 for 3, or $60 for 12 months.
Though the game in retrospect was probably pointless and boring, it will always hold a special place in my heart as it was one of the first things I’ve ever done on the internet.
