Breann Jones, Staff Writer

Bobby was born as Kim Ji-won of Seoul, Korea on December 21st, 1995. He then later moved to Fairfax, Virginia. He lived in Virginia until he was finished in middle school. Then at age 17 he passed YG’s audition held in New York. After passing the YG audition in 2011 he was then a trainee and later was put on the survival show WIN (Who Is Next), competing against other trainees such as Jackson Wang of Got7. He was a trainee in the group “Team B”, the group later made an appearance in (BigBang) Taeyang’s MV (music video) “Ringa Linga”.
In 2014 he auditioned and got casted for the rapping survival show called “Show Me The Money 3”, he went on to win the entire series as part of the team “Illionaire”. Later that same year he performed “Born Hater” with Epic High at the 2014 Mnet Asian Music Awards, he also performed his single “YGGR”. Then in 2015 he was placed in the group iKON, he is now the main rapper of the group. They released multiple songs but my favorite is “RYTHEM TA”. Another event in Bobby’s life was he was featured in Korea’s 2014 Men of the Year, he was featured on the cover.
Bobby made his debut as a solo artist on September 7th 2016 with his song “꽐라 (HOLUP!)” The song was released as part of a four track album, the album was a collaboration between Bobby and Mino of WINNER. The album together was under the name MOBB. They soon released their songs “붐벼 (FULL HOUSE)” and “빨리 전화해 (HIT ME)” on September 9th.
In my opinion Bobby has achievements are by far amazing. He is quite musically talented and is one of the people that I enjoy listening to on days that I feel sad. His music is very hyped and I can’t help but sing along. He may be all the way in Korea living out the dream and I might be 5,248 miles away but his music still empowers me.
