Mission Impossible 5: Rogue Nation was released on March 12th 2015, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, and published by Paramount Studios. The movie follows the story of the previous movies in which the main character, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise), is still an IMF agent that works with his colleague to save the world. The plot is very confusing at first until the end, so the next paragraph will contain spoilers.
The IMF team is getting shut down as the CIA thinks that the only reason that it worked was that it was dumb luck after the team was held responsible for the bombing of the Kremlin, but Ethan Hunt has a better idea as he found out about another team that is a counter towards his team. He finds them and is wounded but cannot be helped as the IMF agency is shut down and if anyone helps him will be thrown in jail. Ethan finds his old team mate and makes him go to Europe to find the man that is responsible for wounding him. They uncover that it’s a plan to kill the prime minister and test one agent that they think is plotting against him. They fail to kill the minister as they were stopped by Ethan Hunt and his teammate, but his is later killed in a car bombing. The girl that is thought to be double crossing actually is and she does this through the whole movie and its very confusing until the end when she sides with Ethan after raiding a compound with information on a project that’s on a hard drive.
This project turns out to be a program for a spy agency formed by the British government. Ethan form a plan to capture the British prime minister as he as his teammate help hostage. He British Prime minister is then inside the room with Ethan Hunt who is disused as a member of the British government and he injects the Prime minister with a truth serum and he unveils that there is a spy agency out there and the information was money to fund the project, which can only be activated as when the prime minster talks. The CIA director who thought Ethan was rouge find out he is wrong after the prime minister unveils it with Ethan Hunt. Ethan than makes up a story for the CIA director into a hero as he looks like he saved the prime minister. Ethan then goes to the man who runs the program to save his friend for a trade of the money on the hard drive. He tricks him and saves his friend and at the same time captures who runs the program. The movie ends with the IMF being reactive.
This mission impossible was one of the best ones as the last movies didn’t make any since and were awful at telling a story. This one on the other hand is pretty good as its confusing at first but is then all put together at the end. I enjoyed this movie very much, and even though it’s very old, it’s still a very good movie you should watch if you are board. It is currently being streamed on Hulu as of the 22nd of March, 2017.
