Lookingglass Update as of 3/10/17

Warrior Staff

The following update was posted on the Winston-Dillard School District homepage following the most recent school board meeting:

Thank you Lookingglass community for your patience and understanding as we work through this difficult time. In the way of a quick update: 3/10/17
At the March 8 school board meeting, the Winston-Dillard School Board of Directors decided to construct a building at the Lookingglass Elementary School site. Currently, HMK (project management) and PACE are working to arrive at the final value loss figures that will provide the resources for the construction project. Meanwhile the design phase will begin with the architects working with school personnel to begin the process of determining how the previous building was used to provide educational services. Naturally, the specific location of the new building at the school site will also be part of the discussion. The floor plan will take shape as the architects learn how the building will be used, which is a design process sometimes referred to as “purpose-design.” As we move forward in the process it is likely the school board will task the advisory committee to assist with community input and ideas. We would like to thank the entire Winston-Dillard education community for their patience and support as we undertake this exciting construction project.
Sincerely,
Kevin Miller
Superintendent
