Hidden Figures, directed by Theodore Melfi and written by Margot Lee Shetterly, is based on the true story of Katherine G. Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson, three African-American women who changed the world forever with their brilliant minds at the NASA company in the early 1960s.

Their brains behind the technology and engineering played a huge part in the first space expedition in the U.S. They are often not recognized for their work back then nowadays  and the movie made a huge point that, just because they’re women, it doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be awarded for their accomplishments.

The movie made 64.4 million in box offices in a short amount of time. Overall, it’s very empowering and is able to bring people to tears. It has a powerful message and can teach a lot to teens and adults alike.

I recommend this movie if you like history, comedy, and a good message to learn from. The movie was released December 25th, 2016, and it looks like it’s still in theaters. Be sure to see it if you haven’t!
