Pitching in Softball

Alaura Hale, Staff Writer

Pitching is one of the key positions in Softball. Without the pitcher there would be no game. It is not easy being a pitcher. It takes a lot of practice to become good. Just try your best and believe in yourself. You can do this it just takes some time to master. Remember that it won’t be easy but you can do whatever you put your mind to.

At first, you will just try to get it in the right spot. All you need is accuracy. You put your dominant foot a little in front of the opposite foot. Then you put the glove with the ball inside by your head or face. Remember that speed is not important when you are trying to pitch at first.

You swing your dominant hand down by your hip and that’s when you start your loop or circle. You release the ball when you hear your glove slap against your thigh or leg. You will get better the more practice you have and the more effort you put in. Just practice and you will get better at it. Be confident in everything you learn in this because if it gets you down, it will take longer to get the steps down.

Once you get better at accuracy, try speed. This means you have to swing your arm faster than before. Try to swing it faster and faster each time but only if you get the accuracy down. This again will take a while to learn. It took me 3-4 years to get these steps down. It may take time but if this is something you want to take seriously, then you will need to put effort in to
